An easel painting is an autonomous work of art that is placed where it can be viewed from one selected, fixed point, under the best of lighting conditions.
A Fresco painting can be viewed from any point in the room, all the while retaining its full visual effect.
It is supposed to be a permanent and integral part of the architecture, rather than a superimposed embellishment.
